The Riders
Mark Cornish

5 years randonneuring (only bought a bike 6 years ago after heart attack). PBP, LEL, SR 2500 x 2 & Randonneur 10000 x 3 consecutive years.
Sabastian Dyer

First multi day long distance audax! Hopefully fitness should be fine, the mental aspect is going to be the toughest part for me, especially if we get a day/s of bad weather. I’ve done 422 (Bristol to Bude and back), 312 (Mallorca312) and 200s previously.
Mike Freeman

Santander to Roscoff over 3 days, my biggest ride to date. Can’t wait to tick this iconic route off.
Jon Fairclough

Took up cycling seriously 22 years ago, starting with Sportives and later adding Audax events and Time Trials of all distances. I completed PBP in 2019 and LEL in 2022. I was a SR in 2019, 2021 and 2022, and hope to do it again this year. I will be riding to raise money for Prostate Cancer charities. When not riding my bike I manage IT for the Veterans Time Trials Association.
Neil Cocklin

DIY mainliner, Bristol-Glasgow-Bristol #20, aspiring apex grimpeur.
David Harmed

Rode the inaugural LEJOG in 2022. It’s the only ride over 600km I’ve ever done and I enjoyed it so much ( I think! ) I thought I’d give it another go. Also, I’m keen to get another commemorative water bottle to pair with the one I got in ‘22 – can’t abide mismatched water bottles!
John Lloyd

Only my 2nd Audax, Double Everester, Pagham to Lands End 303 miles under 24hrs, Pagham to Tipperary 400 miles in 50 hours, and numerous 200 mile rides.
Dave Deakins

Late comer to randonneuring. Member of Audax UK for the past 10 years. ‘Full value’ Randonneur rider and my ambition is just to finish LEJOG 2024, probably as tourist rather than as a Randonneur as I will be 75 next birthday.
Ray Claridge

Member of New Forest Cycle Club.
Ex time trialist, now into long distance cycling. JOGLE 2020 over 8 days solo unsupported. LEL 2022, CTS South 2022, PBP 2023. Various other Audax’s 200-600k. Looking forward to putting my last couple of years experience into the challenge of this LEJOG in under 5 days.
Bill Francis

Started riding 5 years ago and have completed both Trans Devon & Kernow 210 mile over night rides. Several 100 mile sportives and 200k Audax around the rolling roads of Dartmoor and Exmoor. This is my first multiday event. All advice willingly accepted.
Julia Kolkmann

My first go at LEJOG, but not at multi day events. Previously done LEL, Berlin-Munich-Berlin as well as a few one-day ultra races (TransEngland, TransWales, TransScotland) and many 200, 300, 400 and 600s.
Dan Howard

My last LEJOG was a touring ride which took three weeks by tandem and we visited friends and Cape Wrath along the way. I’ve ridden some amazing rides all over the world including across Canada by tandem, New Zealand South Island, across Europe, through the interior of Iceland and down the west coast of the USA.
This will be my 12th 1200km+ ride – I’ve ridden PBP six times, LEL three times, and the Great Southern Randonnee 1200 in Australia along the great ocean road and through the rainforest. My last 1200km was a few weeks ago. It was the amazing Midnight Sun Randonnee in the Arctic wilderness through Sweden and Norway where we saw reindeer, fjords, snow capped mountains, crossed the Arctic circle and had 24hr daylight so we didn’t need bike lights.
Gideon Rabinowitz

Gideon, veteran in more ways than one, LEL 2022, PBP 2023. I’ve done the supported 9 day LEJOG 3 times, but think this is going to be a bit different 😰🤯 Not ridden much this year, so a bit of a leap of faith having only just finished the Bryan Chapman in time this year..so fingers crossed.
Wei Sun

Forsaking the boring landscapes of Southern California and endless sunshine to seek type 2 fun exploring the extreme points of the British Isles whilst riding on the left hand side of the roads. PBP ancien 2015, 2019. Blue Ridge to Bay 1200 ancien 2018. 2017 attempt at LEL but finished over time (foolishly signed up for the 100hr).
Joseph Southall

6y back in the saddle & 2y with Audax; live on the course, so planning to overdo it by riding to/from start/finish.
Yoshiyuki Tanaka

I usually ride Japanese Audax. I have participated in the 2015 PBP, 2017 LEL and the Inverness 1200 in 2019 and 2022 (DNF). I am looking forward to my 4th in the UK .
Sarah Kekus

I rode LEL in 2017 and have since been riding various Audax events each year from 200 – 600km. Looking forward to attempting LEJOG! A little apprehensive……..
David Tucker

Ex BMXer turned Roadie turned Sportive rider. Now wanting to go further…
2 x Etape, 2 x Lincoln 262, Majorca 312, Maratona, Quebrantaheusos, 2 x Pyrenees Raid, Chamonix to Nice, Barcelona to London. Will probably be finding LEJOG hard going after Weston Super Mare…
Franka Scheyhing

I’m living near Black Forest /South Germany and looking forward to have a interessting and safe tour from Lands End to John o’Groats. As I never been to Great Britain I hope to meet interessting people and loveley landscapes including the best weather GB can offer ;-). I’m randonneur since 22 years now with a lot of brevets 200-1000km and finishing 5x PBP, 3x MSR, and once the 1200km Bavaria brevet.
Matt Marvell

Started riding Audax in 2006, completed Mille Cymru 2010, PBP 2011 and then a child in 2012 slowed me down a bit. Underestimated LEL 2022 and was a DNF. So far this year 4 x 600 and many shorter rides and I’m hoping losing 15kg will help me complete LEJOG.
Richard Parry

Participated in a number of self supported ultra cycling events with the most recent one North Cape 4000. Looking forward to meeting you all!
Matthew Kircher

Moved to the UK from the USA for work in summer 2022 and discovered Audax in 2023. Rode my very first 200k that February, got hooked, and went on to complete an SR series followed by PBP. Stoked to add LEJOG to that list before my employer sadly relocates me back Stateside in early 2025.
Daniele Parmeggiani

Qwan Ki Do (Vietnamese Sino Kung) instructor and cycle tourist. Since 2015, after a back injury, I have used the bike for rehabilitation purposes. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I started using the bike to commute to work, covering 30 km each way, three days a week. This sparked my passion for long-distance cycling, leading me to undertake major trips such as Milan to Finisterre, a tour of Iceland, and Morocco. In 2023, I discovered the Randonnée and successfully completed the Paris-Brest-Paris (PBP) event.
Alex Wildy

Following some cycle touring in my teens I spent most of my adult sport life rowing. Fell back in love with riding during covid and have completed several 1 day events of increasing lengths. This will be my first multi day Audax event and my biggest concern is the conditioning to sit on the bike for 5 days.
Kai Cheong Lam

UK based Hong Kong rider really love and enjoy riding my bike to see the world. I have finished LEL (2022), PBP (2019) and Heaven week in Taiwan ( 200K, 300K, 400K, 600K in a row within 7 days). When I am off the bike, I am a web developer / Coffee Roaster/ Whisky Lover and feel free to share anything with me on the road, cheers!
Kevin Stuart

PBP in 2023, Solstice sprint 2024, cycled across Australia, quite a few long 600k’s and general riding. Looking forward to meeting new people and new roads.
Jez Lyons

I got into this long distance cycling lark 2 years ago and now I’m addicted to it. I’ve completed 2 x SR’s but that’s about it. Had a go at the PBP last year and failed..!!! It hasn’t helped making friends with the mad Mark Cornish (at the top) who talked me into doing this LEJOG. So I’ve been out training/riding as much as I can and I think I can do it. Good luck everyone.
Alexandra Tennant

Since beginning my cycling journey three years ago I’ve become addicted to seeking out those moments that so few people are lucky enough to experience… the incredible sunrise following a hard pedal through the night; appreciating the beauty around you and being thankful you didn’t quit when it got tough – or the feeling of pure joy that your legs have taken you so far. I continue to be inspired by the tenacity and grit of the Audax riders I meet and I’m curious to test my own limits of endurance spirit by making my own way across this historic adventure of the British Isles.
Andy Brocklehurst

Been riding for over fifty years but only Audaxing for 2. RRtY last year and SR 2023 and 2024 as well as a few multi day tours but never anything as daft as this. Aiming to Stay safe, Have fun, Get to John O Groats, Finish within time limit. In that order.
Chris Sprott

First multi day event, completed an SR last year, looking forward to riding for the first time in Scotland.
Kirsty Gunstone

I got into cycling about 15 years ago to commute to work. Recently this has led to a love for completing long distance events. LEL and HT550 in 2022, followed with a DNF GBDURO in 2023. HT550 again this year and after LEJOG, another attempt at GBDURO.
Michael Churcher

My first Audax was Ken’s Autumn Colours in October 2018. A 100km AAA ride. It was the cream tea at the arrive that convinced me to do another Audax. Since then have completed various 100, 200, 300, 400 & 600’s, mainly in the West Country. Also completed the Wessex Series in 2022, LEL 2022 and Inverness 1200 in 2023.
Fiona Cockburn

Fiona loves cycling, is probably addicted….Why? For the adventure and social side and also recognising what it can do for all of us for our mental and physical health.
She is doing LEJOG 1400 to raise money for the Scottish Cycling Foundations’ Trail Therapy Programmes which provide opportunities for physically disabled people to cycle on e-adaptive bikes in nature, as well as using bikes to help people overcome mental health conditions. Her employer, Edrington (the owner of our fine whiskies The Macallan, The Famous Grouse and Highland Park) will triple match any donations. So if you wish to donate £10, the charities will receive £40… the link here it is..
She is doing it with a small group of friends and she hopes they all to get to JOG and all stay friends!.
She has done 3 Audaxes before, all of which come with great memories and amusing tales…the tinned peaches in Bellingham, the Alphabet James Bond moment in some McDonalds in Wales, the Dinky’s Diner pint of milk, and the Selkirk v Paris decision… She also did Strykoproven in 2017 and Everested in 2020.
José Ferreira

Portuguese, living in Viana do Castelo.
I started doing brevets in 2008. 3xPBP (2015/19/23), MGM, Portugal Além Tejo, Tour de Normandie, Ronde Aliénor d’ Aquitaine. Diagonal Bilbao-Lisbon, Portugal Divide. It seems to me that the hardest part will be getting to the starting point of LEJOG.
Frank Srajek

,Triathlon since 30 years (>10 Ironman). 2 x PBP, 1xLEL (DNF), several journeys by bike between 600 and 1200 km. In my second life I’m sailing. My Lejog will start on Wednesday July 25th at 3:30 am in the middle of Germany. The plan is to arrive by bike and ferry and I look forward for new interisting people. For Friday August 2nd I’ve an Entrance ticket for the “Military Tatoos” at Edinburgh so I’ve to hurry up.
Tina Webster

New to multi day cycling. I have ridden a couple of 100km, 1 x 200km and 1 x 400km (LWL). I have attempted B-Hard ultra race and brevet in Bosnia (1200km in 90 hours) but didn’t complete it. Fingers crossed for LEJOG.
Helen Maguire

Did my first 400km ride 2 years ago, quickly followed by the inaugural LEJOG audax. Finished just in time with 90 mins to spare. Followed that up with LEL a month later but lost track of time and came in late. Still got a medal though 😊 Last year was my first PBP at 88 hrs and 40 mins. Definitely a full value rider. Looking forward to seeing faces old and new again this year.
Lara Maclean

I absolutely love cycling, bike packing and being outdoors. I crave adventures and doing mad events with my mates. However I am an audax virgin. If not now then when right ? This may be my first and last. I have imposter syndrome reading the bios. But slow and steady gets there and I am looking forward to testing the mind and the body . Please don’t speak to me till I have had some caffeine ….. otherwise I am good .
Chris Blackmore

I have successfully completed events such as London to Paris in 24 hours, PBP 2015 and LEL 2017. I’m looking forward to the views and challenges of taking part in LEJOG ride this year. I will be raising money for Oxfordshire Animal Sanctuary (OAS)

I’m excited to be back for another edition of the LEJOG. I discovered Audax after finding Andy’s event online. I credit him for introducing me to this mad world! I rode my first SR in 2022 as an audax rookie in training for the event. I enjoyed it so much I rode LEL the month after! 2023 saw another SR and I rode PBP last August. I’m looking forward to seeing old friends and making new ones on the roads this year.
John Watt

Came from a trail running/cross country back ground. Only been cycling for 5 years after a minor knee opp! Took to the bike pretty well and just keep nudging up that bar! PBP last year, multiple 600km rides in some stunning parts of the UK. Multi day bike packing, love cycling at night…love my gravel bike and took it to Thailand last year for 14 days gravel biking which was amazing! Just love all things outdoors I suppose. Looking forward to making some new adventure buddy’s and making some more epic memories!!!
